On September 29, 2009, the company Reforestadora Caracolí S.A.S was founded as a response to the private initiative of a group of investors interested in sustainable agro-industrial projects with high social and environmental impact. Within the analysis of the global problem of global warming and the growing demand for wood products from commercial plantations, it was decided to start a commercial Teak (Tectona grandis) forest plantation project in 2010. Estimating a planting of 100 ha per year and a final scope of the project of 2,000 ha of this species for the 20th year of operations, looking for a project that develops forestry activity in perpetuity and can guarantee stable jobs and a greater social impact.
