Located in Rondonia, Brazil, the Manoa project is a Verra REDD+ initiative managed by Biofilica since 2012. This project protects 74,038 hectares of Amazon rainforest, owned by Triangulo, a sustainability-driven Brazilian furniture manufacturer. Despite high deforestation pressures from nearby agricultural activities, Manoa has effectively preserved its forest and become a refuge for over 780 species of fauna. With satellite imagery confirming the threat of encroachment, Manoa's project area has been resilient, maintaining its integrity even as deforestation trends towards it. Its conservative baseline has likely led to fewer issued credits than warranted by its actual climate impact. Since joining the Compromisso com o Clima in 2018, Manoa has generated over 940,000 carbon credits, affirming its status as a benchmark in sustainable forest management and its significant, often underestimated, climate contributions.
